Synopsis

This guidance sets out the key requirements for managing fire safety in multi-occupied residential buildings. It has been updated to take account of the requirements of the Fire Safety Act 2021, the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 and Section 156 of the Building Safety Act. It is not in any way a full statement of what a managing agent should be aware of in respect of fire safety. It also signposts to guidance on best practice where this is available. When managing purpose-built blocks of flats it should be read in conjunction with Fire Safety in Purpose-Built Blocks of Flats.
