Synopsis

Any business will accumulate substantial volumes of paperwork over a period of time. In the property management world, documentation can be very substantial indeed. Quite apart from the practicalities of storage, there are legal reasons for keeping documents accessible of which managing agents need to be aware. This does not mean that the law lays down specific requirements or restrictions on disposing of files, but rather that documentary evidence may be needed to back up or refute arguments before a Court or Tribunal, and it is only safe to destroy documents once a case involving such papers is time barred.
