The Level 2 Foundation in Leasehold Management is the first qualification for leasehold management professionals after joining The Property Institute as an Affiliate.
Your first step
This foundation course is designed as an introduction to Leasehold Management. It is ideal for new starters who are working in property management, and the first step towards progressing to Associate TPI membership level (ATPI, previously known as AIRPM).
Completing this qualification is equivalent to NVQ Level 2 Award.
This qualification does not allow you to use any post-nominal letters in your professional title.

The foundations
The course is made up of 5 modules, covering the 4 core elements of a residential property management professional's training.
- An Introduction to Leasehold Property Management for Assistant Building Managers and on-site staff
- An Introduction to the legal framework in Leasehold Property Management
- An Introduction to Health and Safety in Property Management
- An Introduction to the Customer & Consumer in Property Management
- An Introduction to Ethics and Behaviours in Property Management
The qualification
You can join the course at any time. You will be given access to the five module for 12 months and you are expected to complete the qualification i.e. pass the final exam within this timeframe.
The course is entirely online and you can progress at your own pace, any time it is convenient for you.
Each module is concluded with an end-of-module test and you are required to pass the test in order to move onto the next module.
There are no entry requirements or prior knowledge necessary for this course.

- New starters working in leasehold residential property management
- Back office staff who need a foundation level understanding of how a leasehold residential property management business works
- IRPM Affiliate members who need to progress to Associate member level (Level 3) must first complete a Level 2 course and pass the examination
